Welcome to The Manchester Women's Institute

Manchester WI formed in May 2012, a first in the history of the city! Nearly five years on, President and founder Lex and the lovely ladies of the committee hope that our coming year is just as fun and fabulously educational as ever.

As a group made up of women aged 18-60+ with careers ranging from the arts through to the sciences, we hope to present a fresh look on the traditional WI. We revisit classic creative skills such as baking, crafting and self sustainability, yet we also give time over to subjects that have become relative to today’s women such as mental health awareness, self defence, community involvement and supporting WI campaigns such as SOS Honey Bee and Time to Talk.

For 2016/17 our members have chosen The Booth Centre as our annual charity. The Booth Centre provide advice, support and activities for people who are homeless in Manchester, and aim to give people the help to move on to employment, education, training or voluntary work in the community.

Each month we meet on the 4th Tuesday @ 7pm in the Baronial Hall of Chethams Music School in Manchester City Centre. At every meeting there's a speaker or an activity as well as a chance to catch up with other members over a cup of tea, a slice of cake and maybe even a tipple!
