Welcome to The Manchester Women's Institute

Manchester WI formed in May 2012, a first in the history of the city! 4 years on, President and Co-founder Lex and the lovely ladies of the committee hope that our 5th year is just as fun and fabulously educational as ever.

We have an interesting & wide variety of members ranging from 18 to 60+ in age, with careers spanning from associate directors to trainee solicitors & art students. As a group we hope to present a modern twist of the traditional WI, by revisiting fabulous creative skills such as jam making, knitting and sewing; and with our new allotment we're now adding veggie growing to our expertise! We also give time over to subjects relative to today’s women such as mental health awareness, self defence, community involvement and supporting WI campaigns such as SOS Honey Bee and Time to Talk, encouraging members to raise awareness of organ donation.

For 2016/17 our members have chosen The Booth Centre as our annual charity. The Booth Centre provide advice, support and activities for people who are homeless in Manchester, and aim to give people the help to move on to employment, education, training or voluntary work in the community.

Each month we meet on the 4th Tuesday @ 7pm in the Baronial Hall of Chethams Music School in Manchester City Centre.

Each meeting there's a speaker or an activity as well as a chance to catch up with other members over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

Overall we hope to enjoy another fun, eventful & gratifying year in 2016 at the Manchester WI!
